Nick Carter has obtained a restraining order against his brother, Aaron Carter, citing his “alarming behavior” of late.

“In light of Aaron’s increasingly alarming behavior and his recent confession that he harbors thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family,” Nick, 39, wrote in a message posted to Twitter Tuesday.

He added: “We love our brother and truly hope he gets the proper treatment he needs before any harm comes to himself or anyone else.”

Nick hashtagged his message: #mentalhealth #GunControlNow #GunControl.

The social media post didn’t go over well with Aaron, 31, who tweeted Tuesday afternoon that he had been served. “So my brother just got a a restraining order against me. And I was just served lol,” he wrote, adding: “Take care. @nickcarter we’re done for life.”

Aaron further tweeted he was “astounded at the accusations being made against me and I do not wish harm to anyone, especially my family.” He hadn’t seen Nick “in four years,” he wrote. “And I don’t intend to.”

Aaron said he just wanted his family to “leave me alone.”

Aaron has struggled in the past with substance abuse issues, entering rehab in 2017 following a DUI and an arrest for drug possession.  On Monday Aaron announced via Twitter he’d be canceling the rest of his current tour, excluding two shows and charity toy drives in Kentucky, Missouri and Canada.

“I have to put my health first and I hope you can all understand how much I need this time to heal and recharge my batteries,” he added. “I love you. Stay strong. Stay healthy, and just know I’ll be back next year ready to go. But as a man, this is what I need to do to have some peace. Xo.”

But by early Tuesday he had revised his message and promised to perform scheduled shows, saying on Twitter that he woke up “feeling great and healthy” and his words had been “misconstrued.”
