Police searching for suspect after 5 killed in Sumner County

Police in Sumner County were searching for a suspect Saturday evening after five people were found dead, according to officials.

Sumner County Sheriff Sonny Weatherford said “several bodies” were discovered at the scene on Charles Brown Road, in between Westmoreland and Oak Grove.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation later confirmed on Twitter that four homicide victims were found at a home, and another at a home on Luby Brown Road. The TBI said it had reason to believe the two scenes were related.

The TBI named Michael Cummons as a person of interest in the killings. He is considered armed and dangerous, and may be in the woods near the crime scene. Anyone who sees him should call 911.

An earlier post from the Westmoreland Police Department on Facebook warned residents to be on the lookout for a white male suspect, possibly driving a black Kia.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is available.
