President Trump, first lady Melania Trump to visit Queen Elizabeth II

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will pay a state visit to Queen Elizabeth II in the United Kingdom.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the president and first lady accepted an invitation from the queen. They will be visiting June 3 to June 5. 

The Trumps joined the queen for tea in July 2018.

The White House said the visit “will reaffirm the steadfast and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.”

Trump also will participate in meetings with British Prime Minister Theresa May. They will also attended a ceremony in Portsmouth to commemorate D-Day. Trump will then travel to Normandy, France, to recognize the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

The queen has met with 12 sitting U.S. presidents.
