Taco Bell runs out of tacos and ‘travesty’ called in to police

When a Louisiana Taco Bell allegedly ran out of tacos, a consumer called the city’s police department to report the “travesty.”

The Slidell Police Department took to its Facebook page Monday to share “another ‘we can’t make this stuff up’ story.”

“Somebody called in to complain that the Taco Bell on Gause Boulevard ran out of both hard and soft taco shells,” the post said. “While this is truly a travesty, the police can’t do anything about this.”

Taco Bell didn’t immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for comment.

This isn’t the first time a consumer called the police to report a restaurant running out of an item or an item missing from their order.

In 2017 at a McDonald’s in Indianapolis, a fight over McNuggets broke out with two customers jumping through the drive-thru window. Another customer recorded a video that went viral.

In 1999, then-University of Kansas player Dion Rayford became famous after he angrily attempted to crawl through a Taco Bell drive-through window in Lawrence, Kansas, to get to employees who forgot a chalupa in his take-out order.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound senior defensive end didn’t quite make it all the way inside the restaurant, however. He was seen stuck halfway through the 14-by-46-inch window opening when police arrived.
